About the Author:
The founder and President of The Starkey International Institute for Household Management, Inc., Mary Louise Starkey, has set the service standard by being at the forefront of the household service industry since 1981. As a granddaughter of one of the original Coca-Cola entrepreneurs, she has experienced both sides of the service relationship. Mrs. Starkey felt it was important to make her own marks rather than stay in her family's backyard. After striking out on her own she became an ACTION volunteer working in the areas of education and aging. She also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Services Development. She married and gave birth to two sons, one now a comedian with Disney World and the other currently Marketing Director at Starkey International. She is also a grandmother. Mrs. Starkey is passionately devoted to the Household Management profession and strives to advance the industry, protect it and continue its growth. The Starkey Institute has become the private service industry's leader, developing standards of technical skills and professional ethics. Aside from promoting the prosperity of her own business, she is one of the founding members of the International Nanny Association, has served as a consultant in the start-up process for numerous placement firms, training schools and other service-oriented companies across the nation, and serves as a lecturer and consultant to local businesses. Mrs. Starkey's Nanny Manager is the first of a five-book series for the management of large homes. Mrs. Starkey's personal contribution to the profession has been hailed in such forums as The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Cosmopolitan, Business Week, CBS Television's Nightwatch, and, most recently, in the June 1999 edition of Town and Country magazine. She also serves many non-profits, including the Zach Foundation, a group which serves the needs of burn victims, particularly children, and hosts four formal dinners per year that are devoted to raising funds to educate young adults who have been burned. Mrs. Starkey is a true entrepreneur and an open-hearted visionary. Her ultimate vision is the creation of the profession of household management.
Review:
Finally! A Nanny service delivery system for the 21st Century! Mrs. Starkey's Nanny Manager gives the best opportunity for growth and development to children by putting their parents and their Nannies on the same page for all aspects of their care. -- Michael Jan Regules, Starkey Certified Household Manager

For families interested in a successful "marriage" with their Nanny, Mrs. Starkey's new book, Mrs. Starkey's Nanny Manager, provides the foundation for a happy child(ren) and clearly defined expectations and communication with the parents. -- Denise Collins, CEO, Aunt Ann's Agency

Mrs. Starkey's Nanny Manager provides key components in the professional development of a Nanny. It enhances the winning formula of molding the interests of parent, Nanny, and child into a concrete methodology that successfully brings to fruition service standards of a household. -- Myrna Alphonse, Career Nanny, Starkey Nanny Advancement Program Graduate

Nannies: As a career Nanny, with over 20 years experience, I applaud Mrs. Starkey in her efforts to educate both Nannies and their employing families on some of the finer points of this profession. Lack of communication regarding the Nanny's role within the family is so often the underlying cause of problems which arise. Mrs. Starkey's Nanny Manager strives to clearly define the Nanny as a service professional. -- Cynthia Wilkinson, Career Nanny, International Nanny Association Nanny of the Year, 1998

Nanny Agency Owners: Starkey understands the real definition of service and how to implement a successful nanny and family management structure. Every Community College should consider using the Starkey outline. Mrs. Starkey has applied good business principles and a lot of love and has delivered a workable, practical, cost efficient program in her book, Mrs. Starkey's Nanny Manager. -- Jacqueline F. Clark, President of the A Choice Nanny Franchise System

Those Who Employ Nannies: The book is well written, concise, and presents the management system very effectively. I found that there were many ideas and suggestions I had not thought of, but which seemed so basic and important. The manual is excellent in structure and content and I will refer to it often. -- Penelope Ayers, Employer of a Starkey Nanny
