Introduction
The Hard Truth About Testosterone
It's a fact: men won't go to the doctor unless they fear something rather important is going to fall off. I should know. As one of the first women in the field of urology I specialized in treating men and women's "private parts," giving me a unique perspective as a physician into the healthcare concerns of men of all ages. While women routinely seek medical advice to improve their general health, men see a doctor, on average, 27 percent less often than women. Although men represent nearly half the population of the United States, they account for only 40 percent of physician's visits, according to the National Institutes of Health. No wonder men die about seven years sooner than women! In all fairness, medicine has neglected the mid-life male, performing studies on healthy 22 year-olds to determine what is normal, then focusing on the "mature" man already affected by high cholesterol, lower testosterone levels, impotency and heart disease. But guys need to realize carrying around a waistline of 42 inches or greater at ANY age doubles their risk of impotency, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, brittle bones and strokes.

An estimated 11 million Americans suffer type 2 Diabetes from being overweight, and more than half have high blood pressure, any of which can damage sensitive small blood vessels, including those that fill the penis. Men are developing brittle bones at an alarming rate, with one in every five victims of osteoporosis sporting a Y chromosome. But the real concern comes from increased cholesterol levels at a young age, which can result in the body producing inflammatory chemicals that rupture the linings of small blood vessels, leading to permanent tissue damage, including areas like the penis.

MALE MENOPAUSE

At the heart of all this are changes in testosterone levels. Unlike women, who expect a predictable timetable for ovarian failure, most men are unaware they will have a long but significant coast downhill to their own andropause, or male menopause. An estimated 30% of 65-year-old men have low testosterone levels by a young man's standards, yet medicine has not identified the "normal" levels for men at different ages. Exercise and the right diet help keep testosterone levels elevated...and that spells LOVE MACHINE at any age.

As in so many area of life, it's up to the woman to take subtle charge and make sure that her man remains healthy enough to see his children grow up and live long enough to be her lifelong champion and companion. In this book I will tell women how to banish a man's "Buddha Belly" caused by toxic stress and the wrong dietary advice. I will explain why a bloated waistline that raises estrogen levels in men can lead to impotency and heart disease, and I'll tell you how to keep him from "digging his grave with his teeth" every time he chows down on a low protein, high carbohydrate meal. And if you're worried about his virility, I will reveal which foods and medical conditions will drop his testosterone and sperm counts lower than any number on a quarterback's jersey.

Ancient Roman gladiators epitomized the ultimate male ...firm, fit and the object of adoring females. Although your guy doesn't need the "perfect physique" to be healthy, he can still avoid endangering his health and the welfare of your family by being overweight. The latest longevity stats used by the insurance industry predict that anyone who had reached age 50 at the millennium has a one in two chance of living to 100. But that doesn't hold for more than 65% of American men age 25 and above who are overweight. Obesity has reached epidemic proportions in the United States, but your man doesn't have to become part of this statistic if you feed him The Gladiator Diet.

To date, more than 30 million men have unnecessarily taken Viagra for erectile dysfunction (ED) caused by reversible conditions. It's time to become fearless and help him own the power of natural health.
