About the Author:
Retired from education, and an eight year resident of Sanibel Island, Florida, award winning aritst, Randon T. Eddy, expanded her interest in painting while falling in love with the Florida tropical environment. Her involvement with the J. N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge and the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation, continues to provide natural inspiration for many of her animal and scenic paintings. In 2005, Randon accepted an offer to illustrate the new children's book, DILLO - A Baby Armadillo's Adventure on Sanibel Island, written by Kyle L. Miller. After the publication of DILLO, Randon has found new ways to express her self through her art. Inspired by the success of DILLO, early in 2007 Randon wrote and illustrated her first children's picture book, The Mysterious Creature, published by Jungle House Publications. She not only remains busy with her art profession, she is also involved as an author and illustrator with school visits and library readings for children's programs.
Review:
Randon T. Eddy is one of the most talented and imaginative illustrators of children's books. Eddy, a Sanibel resident, has followed her highly successful book DILLO - A Baby Armadillo's Adventure on Sanibel Island, written by Kyle L. Miller and illustrated by Eddy, with a new gorgeous creation for children, The Mysterious Creature. Each page of this book has a reproduction of a colorful wild animal painting to accompany the inaginative text. The subtle message conveyed by Eddy is about the harm of unfounded rumors. The Tiny Mouse whispers in to the ear of Pretty Panther concerning a "mysterious creature" she has heard of which is roaming the land. "It has big scary eyes, slimy green skin, and it eats everything it sees!" Panther, of course, alerts three ohter animals and soon all the animals from the "Land of Everywhere" are in an uproar of fear and apprehension. Each animal has his own fantasies about what kind of creature would be a threat. They convene a meeting and give out assignments for a search party. I won't give away the ending but it is happy and a true object lesson about the harm caused by spreading rumors. Eddy dedicates the book "To all animal lovers in the Land of Everywhere." It is published by Jungle House Publications and is for children from ages four to six. --Island Sun, Sanibel, Florida
