Harold Carter, Jr. uniquely takes biblical study, theology, psychology, and spirituality, and blends them with his own style of intellect, hermeneutics, anecdotes, and, interestingly, the usage of many of life's axioms, and develops a fresh perspective on what it means to be obedient to God. Without being heavy-handed, Carter brings the reader into an appreciation of wanting to please God not so much by doing what God wants, but by being obedient to what God does not want. The likelihood is that this book will find itself among the innovative theological readings that will further shape the "academy" and the faith community in the 21st century. "This work lifts the biblical value of a sacred 'No.' The contemporary idea of love is often without fear or recompense. Obedience to the discipline of ‘No’ indeed brings new meaning to our Christian development." - Dr. Harold A. Carter, Ph.D., Pastor, New Shiloh Baptist Church, Baltimore, MD "...A fresh and provocative perspective to a view of God that often brings us discomfort....With prophetic pathos the costly impact that the erasure of the 'no' of God is explored...An invaluable resource..." - Dr. Robbin Blackwell, Min. of Ministries, New Shiloh Baptist Church Dean, The Determined Biblical & Theological Institute, Baltimore, MD "We are at once burdened and challenged by this work to hear God...that we may be confronted anew with God's thundering 'No' and, prayerfully, emerge with the declaration 'Yes, Lord!'" - Dr. Charles E. Booth, Pastor Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Columbus, OH "What a refreshing invitation to live liberated by a God who loves us enough to tell us what not to do...This is a life-changing work!" - Dr. William Curtis, Sr. Pastor, Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Pittsburgh, PA President, Hampton Ministers Conference "I am intrigued by the author's proposition and analysis that successful living is best achieved through self-denial...This book has much to say in this regard." - Dr. Jerusa Wilson, Ph.D., Prof. of Psychology Dept. of Rehabilitation, Counseling, and Psychology, Coppin State University
