From the Author:
If you are reading this you are probably a fan of mob material and have a fairly good understanding of things that happened, though not always why and not always true. If you've read those books that mob rats have dictated to unknowing authors, you've picked up a few self-serving and gratuitous lies of the subject. He is always going to hide his worst side and exaggerate the good. For example, when Henry Hill was in is heyday he was roundly despised by other mobsters. The only one who really liked him was Paulie Vario, played by Paul Sorvino in "Goodfellas." The rank and file used this statement to refer to him: "You respect a dog for his master." You never read that in his book or saw it in the movie...but it's the truth.
I don't lie. I don't have to.
Whether it's in Blood of Our Fathers or any of my other novels, you may or may not recognize true events couched in fiction. They are there. The characters are composites of real characters. It's the blood, sex, and guts of day to day mob life in a story that is guaranteed to entertain as it departs subtle information. All my novels are that way. My Mob Reader and Mob Crosswords are more direct with non-fiction information, but never anything that can hurt anyone.
Enjoy.
Sonny
From the Back Cover:
When a wave of violence grips a northeast city after organized crime has been wiped out, Mayor Jonathon White, who is running for governor, resorts to alternative measures to stop the violence, and hatches a plan to allow organized crime figures, who had always kept order where they lived and operated, to recapture their old neighborhoods, thereby allowing his police force to concentrate in other areas. The distasteful assignment travels down the ladder until it winds up with Assistant District Attorney for Consumer Fraud, Nicole Gianetti.
Nicole, an Italian who has always felt stigmatized by the Mafia, feels that she is being handed the dirty assignment, which could cost her job if it goes wrong, only because of her ethnic background. She protests, but accepts and is referred to imprisoned mobster Larry Bellino, who claims he was wrongly convicted. He and Nicole instantly detest each other, but finally come to an agreement based on Nicole removing not just him, but three of his men from prison too.
ALTERNATIVE MEASURES is a true Dirty Dozen of the mob, full of violence, twists and turns, and a heart pounding finale.
