About the Author:
James Mitchell has been active in the Log and Timber Framing Industry for thirty-six years. He graduated from the University of British Columbia, Industrial Education in 1981. His works include initiating the first Resource Technology School for Aboriginal students on the BC west coast; Manager of Construction Education for Yukon College, overseeing community building projects throughout the Yukon; production of an educational video series on Northern Residential Construction for aboriginal Dene/Inuit. As past Director of the BC Log and Timber Building Association, he was personally involved with Apprenticeship curriculum development. He has authored two previous books on log and timber construction entitled The Short Log and Timber Building Book and The Craft of Modular Post & Beam. He founded the Island School of Building Arts (ISBA) in 1997 and has been teaching log and timber framing for the past fifteen years. His latest work, the Master's Guide to Timber Framing came to fruition through these years of teaching.
