This text helps veterinary and laboratory animal technicians understand the medications they dispense and how these medications may help or potentially harm animals. Students will first review the basic anatomy and physiology of the body systems, and then they will be introduced to the drugs that treat diseases of those systems. Students also learn how drugs are approved, who monitors drug safety, basic pharmacokinetics of drugs and routes of drug administration. After review of each body system, drugs used to treat diseases of that body system are presented in a clear and categorical way. The categorization of drugs helps students make correlations between the drugs they are dispensing or administering so that this material is more easily recalled in the clinical setting.
