If by any of my expressions I have nu necessarily wounded the feelings of any Christian brother, I ask him to forgive me. If I have unconsciously fallen into any exag geration, I deeply deplore it. Throughout the work I have made a clear distinction between evangelical and unevangelical cler gymen; between those who preach the Gos pel and those who do not preach it. No spurious liberality, no fear of censure, should obliterate the distinction; yet many, doubt less, who are not ranked among the evan gelical party, who do not support their insti tutions, and who do not usually act with them, may be converted and faithful ministers of Christ.
