Excerpt from Geschichte der Musik, Vol. 5: Beispielsammlung zum Dritten Bande nach des Verfassers Unvollendet Hinterlassenem Notenmaterial Zusammengestellt, Redigirt und mit Zahlreichen Zusätzen und Vermehrungen In Bezug auf die Reihenfolge der Tonsetzer schliesst sich der vorliegende Notenbeilageband dem Fortgange des dritten Textbandes genau an, so wenig ich auch mit der darin aufgestellten Gruppirung einverstanden sein kann, wie ich dies auch schon in der Besprechung des vierten Bandes (siehe: Monatshefte, Jahrgang XI, 1879, Nr. 1 Seite 6 u. F.) hervorgehoben habe. Es sind zu diesem Zwecke einem jeden Tonstiicke und Tonsetzer die nöthigen Nachweise der Seiten zahl unten beigefügt worden, um das Nachschlagen im Textbande zu erleichtern. Dabei habe ich ein für alle Mal zu erinnern, dass die Seitenzahlen sich stets auf die zweite Auflage des Textbandes beziehen, die in der Seitenzahl nicht mit der ersten ubereinstimmt.
