GORDON LEIDNER has been a student of american history for more than twenty-five years. He is the author of several Lincoln books, including Abraham Lincoln: Quotes, Quips, and Speeches. He is a member of the board of the Abraham Lincoln Institute, and the web author of the popular website greatamericanhistory.net.
