Paula Harrison began inventing stories and writing them down as a child, including one about a magical land inhabited by talking bookworms. She lives with her husband and two children in England.

Emily, Clarabel, Lulu, and Jaminta are the Rescue Princesses. They meet for the first time when their families gather for the Mistberg Grand Ball, and all four of the nine-year-old princesses would rather be outside on the zip line and obstacle course than inside practicing walking with their heads held straight or how to curtsy correctly. After escaping outside from the first evening’s banquet, their play is interrupted by an animal’s distress call.
