From the Inside Flap:
Roan stepped past him, out into the cold, and flinched as icy snowflakes stung his face. His shoes crunched in several inches of fresh powder, all the leafless trees glowing with a mantle of white. "You said you liked the snow," Ishaan said, stepping up behind him.
Roan didn't move, not even to draw breath. Ishaan was doing it again, so close Roan could feel him though they weren't touching, just like the river, just like the changing booth, only this time, Roan wasn't going to speak or move and screw it up. He stood, trembling, waiting, as Ishaan's warm breath slid through his hair, across his cheek, under his collar. Touch me, he begged silently. Don't make me wait anymore.
Ishaan stepped past him and the breath left him in a rush, his whole body cold and shaking. What had he done this time? He turned just as Ishaan slipped on the flagstone sidewalk. Roan reached out, grabbing Ishaan's arm, but Ishaan landed on his back in the snow anyway, with Roan lying on top of him.
"Sorry," Roan gasped as he scrambled to get up. "I tried to--Are you okay?" He looked down into Ishaan's face, his cheeks pinked by the cold, his lips parted as he fought to catch his breath. It couldn't be easy, with Roan practically lying on his chest. Roan started to push himself upright, but Ishaan grabbed the front of his coat. Roan stared at him, waiting, but Ishaan made no further move. What kind of game was this? His hand red and nearly numb with cold, Roan reached up and brushed a wayward curl back out of Ishaan's eyes. Ishaan tightened his grip on Roan's coat, but did nothing to stop him.
This was a bad idea. Roan knew it. He knew that Ishaan would just pull away at the last second, shove him off, get up, and leave him in the snow. He knew it, but he couldn't help but pray that he'd be wrong. He leaned closer, hesitated, his eyes searching Ishaan's. He saw fear and uncertainty and pain, but also a deep longing, a need that mirrored his own. This was going to hurt so much. Roan closed his eyes and pressed his lips to Ishaan's.
