The Gospel characters that I write about are familar to most of us who have grown up attending a Church or have spent time reading the Bible. After much prayer and reflection I have tried to imagine what it must have been like to have been near Jesus, close to the action as He travelled around with His band of disciples. After all, the Gospel writers and the early Christian communities remembered these often silent men and women who were present and made a difference without saying a word some 40 years after the miracle, teaching or event took place. I've written these reflections in hope that you may enter more deeply into your encounter with Jesus and that the silent actions of these various characters may influence your own journey of faith. Hopefully the reflections and possible applications that these characters provide may be a point of departure for you and your community of faith. Jesus called forth and used ordinary people throughout his ministry 2000 years ago and He is still seeking men and women who may follow His way of faith, hope and love.
