About the Author:

Maya Q1anjob1al from the Cuchumatn Region of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, born in San Pedro Soloma in 1945. He has a degree in Educational Planning, and is a painter, researcher, and university instructor, as well as a member of the Academy of Mayan Languages of Guatemala and a consultant in the Ministry of Culture. Lic. Gonzlez is the author of the first Maya novel, La otra cara, 1993, also published by the Yax Te1 Foundation in English (A Mayan Life, 1995 and a bilingual Q1anjob1al-Spanish edition, Sb1eyb1al jun naq maya1 q1anjob1al; La otra cara, 1996 as well as a history of Maya literature, Kotz1ib1, nuestra literatura maya, 1997 and a book of poetry in a bilingual Q1anjob1a
