About the Author:

LORETTA CAPEHEART has served as a professor, an analyst for a Department of Justice settlement agreement, and a diversity and equity officer. She has published on inequities in education and the criminal justice system. Her activism focuses on immigrant and other workers’ rights, anti-racism, and for full and free education.
 
DRAGAN MILOVANOVIC, a Bernard J. Brummel Distinguished Research Professor, has been an instructor in jail settings, a dormitory counselor of incarcerated juveniles, a member of a prison inspection team, and a participant in a coffee picking brigade during post-revolutionary Nicaragua. He is author and co-author of 25 books.
