Murrer has been very active in promoting other poets of his generation in his capacity as editor of various publications. Among this circle of writers The Diary of Mr. Pinke is highly regarded and considered Murrer's best work to date.
Ewald Murrer was born in 1964, in Prague. After finishing his studies in 1985, he worked as a gardener at the Office of the President at Prague Castle until1990. In 1991, he received a stipendium from the Czech Literary Fund and in 1992, he initiated the journal for young poets Inicialy, of which he was editor-in-chief until 1994. Since that time, he has served as editor of the publishing house Mlada Fronta and Radio Echo. His first officially published volume of poetry appeared in 1992. Since then he has published five further volumes of poetry and prose. In addition, his work has appeared in anthologies and journals internationally: Child of Europe (Penguin); Daylight in Nightclub Inferno (Catbird); and This Side of Reality (Serpents Tail). The Diary of Mr. Pinke (Twisted Spoon, 1995) is Murrers first volume to appear in English translation.
