Contemporary mottled calf, (margins trimmed close affecting some text or signatures, browning and staining most severe at beginning, most of quire B loose but present, brittle edges, hinges cracked; rubbed). Numerously inscribed in at least two youthful male scripts to pastedowns and rear endpapers, with names of two Turnbull boys, James and Thomas, and dated 1773, and other inscriptions. Interesting copy for its edification connection, probably used in Latin exercises. Aesopís Fables are perhaps the most well-known of the moralistic tales and popular with every generation.
