The text is illustrated with 8 pages of black-and-white photography and illustrations of Rudolph Abel, between the years 1954-1957. Black textured coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Red coloured tint to the top text block edge. Photographic dustwrapper, with red and white background with black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. On the rear dust wrapper panel is the author and Burt Silverman. The story of the activities and trial of Colonel Rudolph Abel, whose real name was Vilyam Genrikhovich Fischer, who at the time of his arrest was one of the highest ranking Russian agents ever to be captured in America. He was eventually traded for captured U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers and slid into anonymity and myth. The man who gave the introduction to the book, Burt Silverman, was is his friend for more than three years and he helps give an in-depth view of this enigmatic man. Light rubbing to the corners of the backstrip and bumping to the book corners. Browning and staining to the text block edges. Very light browning of the endpapers and a hint of age toning to the internal text. To the top edge of the free front endpaper there has been some bleeding of the text block tint. Rubbing and chipping to the dustwrapper corners and to the top backstrip edge. A little rubbing and marking of the laminate. Yellowing of the white background colour and there is a hint of fading to the backstrip region. There is a small crease to the top corner of the rear fold over panel. This is the first UK edition.
