Covering molecular genetics from the genomics perspective, Genomes, has been completely rewritten to incorporate the major advances made in the past three years. The new edition includes: the sequencing of the human genome; characterisation of genome expression and replication processes, and transcriptomics and proteomics.
Genomes 2 has been extended to include more introductory material making it appropriate for early undergraduate study. As with the first edition, the superb full-colour illustrations are free to download.

KEY CHANGES FROM THE FIRST EDITION:
* Expanded introductory material
* New study aids: (Learning Objectives - Highlighted Key Terms - Self Study Questions - Problem-based Learning)
* New coverage of the transcriptome and proteome
* New chapter on cloning techniques and PCR
* Extensive update of functional analysis, genome expression, and genome replication and evolution

Review:
"...this didactic masterpiece?model of a modern university textbook deserves to be read and studied by?students worldwide." (Modern Pathology, Vol. 15, No. 9, 2002)

"...a second edition to incorporate new developments in genome science and to make the book more 'user friendly'...the book substantially exceeds that modest objective; this is a text suitable for anyone who does not specialize in genome science." (Clinical Chemistry, Vol. 48, No. 12)

"...a marvelous text?plenty of definitions and excellent illustrations essential for an introductory textbook...the reader is...guided wonderfully through the text...this text is an essential cornerstone of information..." (Pharmaceutical Research, Vol. 19, No. 12, December 2002)

"...probably the most up-to-date textbook on molecular biology...a useful text...and reference..." (Annals of Pharmacotherapy, September 2003)

From Library Journal:
This undergraduate textbook concentrates on the study of the genome (the total genetic makeup of an organism) as a whole rather than the traditional approach of studying specific genes. The writing is clear and straightforward, and the diagrams are excellent, making difficult topics like DNA sequencing, RNA replication, and genomic evolution, mutation, and recombination approachable and understandable.
