A perfect choice for smart, funny tweens who love Roald Dahl and Lemony Snicket.

In The Tell-Tale Start, Edgar and Allan Poe (great-great-great-great-grandnephews of the legendary Edgar Allan Poe) managed to outwit the nefarious Professor P. Pangborn Perry, who was (and is) determined to kill just one of them, in order to prove a mad scientific theory. Now the boys are in New Orleans, about to play the young Poe in a feature film. But the role may cost them their lives, because now someone else wants them dead. But who? And can the twins—with the help of their co-stars, Em and Milly Dickinson, their ghostly forebear, and a pair of real ghosts—manage to outwit them?

From the Author:
Around age 9, I discovered the joyful experience of reading books.  Until then, reading had been a school subject at which I excelled but from which I drew no extraordinary pleasure or identification.  And then I came upon a series of mysteries for children called "Alfred Hitchcock Presents: The Three Investigators".  Written by a Golden Age of radio veteran named Robert A. Arthur, the books transported me.  That thrills and wonder and friendship could be shared on a page was a revelation. What fun!  With time, I learned, of course, that a writer can share more complex emotional and intellectual adventures as well.  But it was those three boys and their detective agency in a junk yard that first fueled my writer's imagination.  And it is my hope that "The Misadventures of Edgar and Allan Poe" trilogy may do the same for a new generation of readers.
