The author subtitled this work "The origin, art and culture of the Maori People of New Zealand" and it is a comprehensive but easily understood survey of the Maori race in those terms. He divided the study into 11 chapters, followed up with three appendices. Complementing the excellent text is a first class selection of b/w illustrations, ranging through historic photographs, early art, informal sketches, diagrams plus maps and a tribal geneaology table, often several images to a page. Notable for its illustrations alone, but much more than a picture book. 103 pages. First few pages, including front cover, are lightly (vertically) corrugated, probably by damp but no staining or water marks. Pictorial card covers VG, with few tiny spots, light corner creases to front, corrugations apart text block excellent, no inscriptions. Seller Inventory # 003309
