About the Author:
Lisa Schwartz, founder and owner of Rainbeau Ridge farm, is the resident cheese maker and herdswoman, taking time to teach children s ag education and cooking courses which emphasize the importance of local sustainable agriculture in our daily lives. Rainbeau Ridge increasingly plays host to many philanthropic and community events, furthering the farm s goals of keeping land as open space, conserving resources and helping people understand the value of farming, food and sustainable, accessible agriculture. Before becoming involved in food and farming, Lisa started her career as a management consultant, eventually becoming a full-time mother and community volunteer. She holds a BA in economics from Wellesley College. Lisa resides in Bedford Hills with her husband Mark, chairman of Mission Point Capital Partners, and is the proud mother of daughter, Bari and son, Dan.

Until recently, Judith Hausman was the food critic and a feature writer and for The Journal News (Gannett Suburban Newspapers) for over twelve years, as well as the food columnist for NY House. Her work appears regularly in Westchester Magazine and she is also a local editor for Zagats Survey. She is intimately knowledgeable of the region s food, farms and residents, reporting frequently on farmers, home cooks, chefs and small producers in the Lower Hudson Valley. Judith has written about Rainbeau Ridge repeatedly as the farm has evolved. She is also a Rainbeau Ridge CAP member, a long-time friend of Schwartz and the farm and a dedicated locavore. She holds a Masters in Education from Boston University, continues to teach in addition to writing and lives in South Salem, NY, where her children, Benjamin and Hannah Tressler, visit frequently.

Karen Sabath, Lisa s sister, left the financial world to spend more time with her family in early 2001. Her family has since expanded to include all of the animals at Rainbeau Ridge. While not an obvious transition, her economics degree from Princeton and financial industry experience at First Boston and BlackRock have given her the tools to work with Lisa to expand the farm s platform. An avid photographer who is rarely seen without her camera, she loves capturing authentic moments at the farm and with family and friends. Over the Rainbeau is the first publication of her photographs. Karen lives in Katonah, NY with her husband Bruce, an actor, and her two sons, Jeremy and Michael.
