Synopsis

        All of the characters are introduced and then the adventure starts. A picnic at the rivers turns out to be one challenge after another. A deserted cabin, a swamp, alligator, turtle, wolves, a terrible storm and a waterfall make for the first exciting Adventure of Pokey and Sparky.

The River is where readers get to see the characters as I saw them when I began writing the Adventures of Pokey and Sparky. There is a great adventure that happens in this book, but if it wasn't for the "Big Four" as I call them, the starring characters, then there would not be this or any further adventures. It is "The Big Four" that will grow on every reader, just like they grew on me as I developed them. There is reason number 1. No, there is reason 1 through 4!

There has to be something that keeps a kids attention. Adventure, imagination, excitement and happy endings better be there, through the entire book, or the squirming starts, the book gets closed, maybe to never be finished, or the parent just can't stand to read another word. I know this is true, my daughter had the attention span of a fly! She is much better now since she has kids of her own and is being punished like I was, like my mother probably was also. So, reasons 5,6,7 and 8 are Adventure, Imagination, Excitement and Happiness.

Reasons 9 and 10 are for the benefit of the parents whose kids read these adventure books, or, if the parent is reading these adventures to their younger child. In the world we live in today, there is a huge, I mean really huge, need for understanding the value of friendship. And equal to friendship, living in the same barn, is having a moral compass. Anyone who reads any of The Adventures of Pokey and Sparky, or goes to their Facebook page, will learn immediately that it is all about making friends, and then being true to those friendships. If you, as a parent, want to impress the value of friendship on your kids, and want to give them a moral compass, see them smile, ask questions and not squirm, then do me, and yourself, a favor, and invest in your kids development. Nuff said.

About the Author:

     I was born in 1950 in Denver, CO. At age 14, my family moved to Southern California where I graduated from High School and went on to Junior College in Los Angeles.

     In 1970 a career opportunity opened up and I moved to Seattle, WA. I was married in 1972, and I spent the next 30 years in the electronics distribution business.  In 2005 I spent some years ruining a good hobby by turning it into my second career, finish carpentry and woodworking.

     In 2010 I moved to Arizona where I now live at the base of Superstition Mountain in Gold Canyon.  I enjoy the warmth and the southwestern sights I remember visiting as a child.

     I am a Christian and attend Spring of Life Christian Church in Mesa, AZ and give Thanks to God for the blessings of my life, my family, great career and the talents that I have been given, and the blessings I continue to receive every day.
