The book that answers the big question: Why would Jehovah allow a perfect man to suffer? The Great Debate offers a fresh perspective on the life of Job, a wealthy emir who lived in the land of Uz and was known as the greatest of all men for his integrity and wealth. Job was perfect and upright, fearing God and steering clear of evil. He was also a family man who, together with his wife, raised seven sons and three daughters, and bred a large herd of animals to sell at the marketplace. Jehovah allowed Satan, in the role of the adversary, to activate a holocaust against innocent Job, destroying his children, health, and wealth. At the height of his power, Job was struck down by the principalities and powers of heaven. This ancient story comes to life in a way that modern readers can easily relate to, as many people today find themselves suffering the trials and tribulations that Job faced. Reminiscent of a Greek tragedy, The Great Debate puts Job on trial, pitting his three friends, Elihu, and Jehovah against him to determine his innocence or guilt. It's a book that eloquently takes on the theological and psychological question of guilt in relation to God and suffering.
