About the Author:
Dr. gay toltl kinman coordinates Workshops for Writers at Cal State, San Bernardino, has eight award nominations for her writing including three Agatha Award nominations and has published over one hundred and fifty articles in professional journals. She has published six children's books, several short stories in American and British magazines as well as a gothic novel. Dr. kinman also has had a play produced. In addition she has a recipe included with other famous authors in the book A Second Helping of Murder. Dr. kinman co-edited a cookbook for Sisters in Crime called Desserticide II aka Just Desserts and Deathly Advice as well as Shameless Promotion for Brazen Hussies 2. For Mystery Writers of America, Dr. kinman has served as Chair of the Edgar Award for Best Children's Mystery and also served on the Edgar Committee for Best Young Adult Mystery. She has been a judge for many contests including original paperback and short story contests for the Private Eye Writers of America's Shamus Awards and also judged the category of short story for the Short Mystery Fiction Society's Derringer Awards. She has also judged several Romance Writers of America contests. Kinman is a frequent moderator and panelist for Left Coast Crime, Bouchercon, Malice Domestic, Epicon, Mayhem in the Midlands, and other writers' conferences. Also, kinman is a scholar for the Center for the Book, Library of Congress UCLA “Women of Mystery” discussion group. She is an active member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime (former L.A. Chapter Board member), Private Eye Writers of America, Short Mystery Fiction Society, (EPIC) Electronically Published Writers Internet Connection, Women Writing the West, the Dramatists Guild, and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
