This was my first real book. Being of the computer generation most of my historical knowledge has come from the internet. To read about Field Marshall Rommel in his own words was stimulating and exciting. Only now and then is the diary type account of events broke up by a summary. Dr. Pillmot manages to effectively sum up each section and then lets the book flow again, something which helped me finish it in two days. Highly recommended for all who have even the remotest interest in the life of a great man, who loved his country and fought hard for its future. Starting as a lowly Officer Cadet in WWI to the rank of Field Marshall towards the end of WWII, the reader can learn from his example --By "algore25"
