Star Parker is the founder and president of CURE, the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit think tank that promotes market-based public policy to fight poverty. She is a weekly columnist, distributed by Morris Communications and other major Internet news sources, with readership up to 8 million a week. Before her involvement in social activism, Star had seven years of first-hand experience in the grip of welfare dependency. After a Christian conversion, she changed her life, and today she is a highly sought-after commentator on national news networks for her expertise on social policy reform.
