Luckily, the old man kills the big fish and ties it at one side of his boat. Nevertheless, his boat is attacked by a shark on his way home and the big marlin becomes a skeleton. The Old Man and the Sea is a novella written by Ernest Hemingway in Cuba in 1951, one of Hemingways most famous works, winning him a Nobel Prize for literature in 1954.
