hole of their chosen excess—in happiness. Caicedo’s oeuvre is considered among the most original works in Colombian literature. He was 25 when he committed suicide, the same day he received the first printed copy of ¡Que viva la música!, for which he is remembered to this day.

About the Author:
Andrés Caicedo nació en Cali en 1951 y su obra es considerada como una de las más originales de la literatura colombiana. Caicedo lideró diferentes movimientos culturales como el grupo literario los Dialogantes, el Cine Club de Cali y la revista Ojo al cine. En 1970 ganó el I Concurso Literario de Cuento de Caracas con Los dientes de caperucita, lo que le abriría las puertas al reconocimiento intelectual. Se suicidó el 4 de marzo de 1977, cuando tenía veinticinco años, el mismo día que recibió la primera copia impresa de ¡Viva la música!, la obra por la que es recordado hasta el día de hoy.
