Printed under the code of Virginia. Lacks front cover. 48-page booklet. Two small holes punched through pages near spine. Small damp stain rear cover front and back at spine bottom. The Governor's message is not about just the condition of the commonwealth but also how their peace has been disturbed by a rebellion taking place at Harpers Ferry. ".it was an extraordinary and actual invasion, by a sectional organization, specially upon slaveholders and upon their property in negro slaves. The home to be invaded was the home of domestic slavery." The Governor goes on to describe the state of the State's financial situation, revenues, expenses, banks, insurance, education, lunatic asylums, penitentiary, public buildings, etc. Bookseller Inventory # 4795
