Publisher: Columbus, OH: Abercrombie & Fitch, 2005
Book Condition: As New
Dust Jacket Condition: None, As Issued
Edition: 1st Edition.
1st Printing. Unpaginated. Published in 2005. Rare Bruce Weber and Matt Ratliff collectible set. A pristine copy of "Rookie Dreams of Greatness" Commemorative Souvenir Issue with fine copies of both the A & F Magazine Special and Interview Magazine Issues. Both feature Matt Ratliff in the same vein as the "Rookie" title. Limited Edition of 500 copies. The book's design resembles "Shufly", is one of only four titles published by Abercrombie & Fitch that actually bears Bruce Weber's name, and is now one of the classic A & F titles. There is no ISBN. The Limited Edition is now rare. An austerely elegant production by A & F: Regular-sized volume format. Pictorial hard boards, which show the bare-chested model in front and black titles embossed on the back, as issued. Photographs by Bruce Weber. There is minimal text. Printed on pristine-white, thick uncoated stock paper in the United States to the highest standards. The reproduction quality brings out the rich, crisp, and warm tones of the photographs. Without DJ, as issued. Published to celebrate the opening of Abercrombie & Fitch's New York flagship store in November, 2005. Presents Bruce Weber's "Rookie Dreams of Greatness". One of his most handsome models ever, the athlete-turned-model Matt Ratliff had appeared in commercials, press ads, and fashion spreads before being discovered by BW and adopted by Abercrombie & Fitch as the signature model for its television and press campaign. Ratliff is physical perfection incarnate: Piercing, soulful eyes, aquiline nose sprinkled with freckles, and smooth, perfectly chiseled body, the All-American male ideal that Weber has made his lifelong (and seemingly inexhaustible) quest. This Commemorative Special Issue revisits the distinctive, instantly recognizable, and erotically charged imagery identified with Abercrombie & Fitch at its peak. To complete the set, this copy comes with the A & F Magazine Special and Interview Magazine Issues. The former is entirely devoted to Matt Ratliff. The latter features "The Cowboys In My Life", a 15-page BW portfolio that ends with a doublespread A & F advertisement featuring Matt Ratliff. The ad appears for the first and only time in published form. An absolute "must-have" title for Bruce Weber and Matt Ratliff collectors. This title is a cult classic. It comes with copies of the A & F Magazine Special and Interview Magazine March 2006 Issue. As far as we know, this is the only triple set available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, pristine beauties. Please note: Copies of the Limited Edition available online command as much as $300. This is surely an accessible and lovely alternative. A rare set thus. Lavishly illustrated with black-and-white and color plates. Bruce Weber's "O Rio de Janeiro", the sexiest photography book ever published, was selected as one of the "Seminal Photography Books of the 20th Century" in the "Book of 101 Books". One of the finest American photographers of our time. A fine collectible set. (SEE ALSO OTHER BRUCE WEBER TITLES IN OUR CATALOG). Bookseller Inventory # 18784
