About the Author

Karen Rose Smith has sold twenty-four books since 1991. Her release COWBOY AT THE WEDDING was nominated for Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award for best Silhouette Romance and was also a finalist in Colorado Romance Writers' Award of Excellence Contest. Her new DO YOU TAKE THIS STRANGER? trilogy for Silhouette Romance will debut in September 1998 with WEALTH, POWER AND A PROPER WIFE, followed in October by LOVE, HONOR AND A PREGNANT BRIDE and in November by PROMISES, PUMPKINS AND PRINCE CHARMING. She has also written the second book in Silhouette Romance's first-ever continuity series, MARRYING THE BOSS, that is scheduled for February 1999. After six years of writing and thirteen completed manuscripts, Ms. Smith sold two books in one week! She has published with Silhouette Romance and Special Edition as well as Meteor/Kismet and Kensington's Precious Gems. A past president and former Published Author liaison for the Central Pennsylvania Romance Writers, she has given workshops on conflict, character, love scenes and synopsis writing to neighboring chapters and at conferences.

A graduate of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania with a BS in English and French Secondary Education, she has graduate credits in both English and Counseling. Formerly an English teacher and home decorator, she began writing romances when back surgery interrupted her life style. Ms. Smith lives in Pennsylvania, with her husband--an elementary school librarian. Their son is a graduate student in Tennessee. Ms. Smith has read romance novels since she was a teenager because they end with happily-ever-after. She thinks everyone needs hope in an ideal and an escape from time to time. And that's why she can see herself reading and writing romance novels for a long time to come.
