Signed and inscribed by the author: 'Inscribed for Ruth Albert, Washington, Conn., March 12, 1973, Paul H. Lang.' Once listed, this will be the Only signed copy of this book for sale anywhere on the Internet. The signed inscription is on the second blank front end paper. Included with the book is a card with a note from the author's wife. It reads: 'March 13, Dear Mrs. Albert, We want to thank you for your kindness to two strangers. Gratefully, Anne Lang.' (Anne Pecheux Lang). 'Lang was a Hungarian-American musicologist and music critic. He became best known for his often provocative articles and books on both contemporary trends in music and music history. From 1954 to 1964 he was the music critic for the New York Herald Tribune, succeeding Virgil Thomson, and was editor of The Musical Quarterly from 1945 to 1973.' He was also an Olympic rower in the 1924 Olympics in Paris.
