About the Author
Born in Victoria, Texas in 1917, Dona L. Irvin migrated to California in 1942 at age twenty-five, with her husband and two small children. After retirement in 1982, she pursued a career in writing. Her first book, The Unsung Heart of Black America, was published in 1992.
