His book is loosely structured, sometimes characterized by awkward writing, and occasionally repetitive in content, but it is also frequently very funny. The cartoons by Neil Caldwell and the one-line prayers by State Senate Chaplain Gerald Mann are among its principal assets. General readers with an interest in Texas politics will find this a humorous introduction to the state's colorful personalities and political folkways.
