Studying the Bible should be easier than ever before. Every year, millions of copies are sold in hundreds of languages and dialects. Many homes have whole collections of Bibles.
But there is a problem. Many people know only bits and pieces of the Bible, such as individual stories or verses, and they do not understand how these pieces fit together. So, while most Christians desire to know and understand God's Word, many have only a limited understanding of it, which simply makes the Bible more difficult, and seemingly less interesting, to study.
This book brings to life these "bits and pieces" of Bible knowledge by showing their relation to each other and to a common theme that runs throughout the Word. The reader encounters the theme time and again while studying the insights and events found in each book of the Bible. This journey "through the Bible" reveals the unfolding of God's plan and provides a panoramic view for excellent understanding of the Word.
This book is not a substitute for studying the Bible, but it is an invaluable tool for gaining a better understanding of God's Word. The author encourages the reader to make a priority of knowing and understanding the Bible, and then to endeavor to accomplish this. Using this book to supplement the reading of God's Word will advance the reader toward this goal.
About the Author
Patricia J. David, M.A. in Biblical Studies, is an ordained minister and has been in full-time pastoral ministry since 1983. Currently, Patty is enrolled in post-graduate studies and is co-pastoring a church with her husband, Dan, in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, where they live with their two children, Jonathan and Rebecca.
