Reuben was ducking strawberries in the truckpatch when his dad got the idea about making a quilt. The whole family would help (even Sadie, who threw the plump red berries). They would make it as beautiful as possible. Then they would sell it at the auction to raise money for an operation needed by their neighbor on the next farm. But the colorful Log Cabin quilt disappears before they have a chance to give it away. This hearty Amish family faces a new adventure! Moss and Good's new collaboration is as rich and lively as their two highly successful earlier books -- Reuben and the Fire and Reuben and the Blizzard.

"Children will enjoy the simple, satisfying tale, set in the old-fashioned Amish milieu, and fans of the highly acclaimed artist Moss will appreciate her inimitable trademark style." — Booklist
"An uplifting story about Amish life. The family in this book returns kindness and generosity to the anonymous thief, thereby introducing children to (and reminding adults of) the idea of turning the other cheek. "The story and delicate illustrations will engage young readers and introduce them to the Amish ways of gentleness, solidarity, and distrust of modern lifestyles. ‘Reuben’ breathes freshness into the search for cultural diversity in children’s literature." — Cleveland Plain Dealer
"Braving the taunts of his sister, Reuben helps sew the quilt his family is making to sell at an auction in Reuben and the Quilt. When the quilt is stolen, the family’s act of forgiveness and generosity brings it back." — Publishers Weekly
"How does the family respond when the colorful quilt disappears from their porch? The author skillfully weaves in the core values of peace and forgiveness as the family contemplates ways to solve the quilt problem." — Reunion
"Simple and gentle, this story gives readers a glimpse of Amish life. Moss’s charming folk-art watercolors depict scenes of Lancaster, PA. The colors are those of Amish quilts, with touches of black, teal, purple, and red appearing throughout." — School Library Journal
Merle Good has written numerous books and articles about the Amish, including the beautiful book Who Are the Amish? In addition to The People’s Place (an educational center about the Amish and Mennonites in Intercourse, Pennsylvania, he and his wife, Phyllis, oversee a series of projects in publishing and the arts. They live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and are the parents of two daughters.
P. Buckley Moss (Pat) first met the Amish in 1965 when she and her family moved to Waynesboro in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Admiring the family values and work ethic of her new neighbors, Pat began to include the Amish in her paintings.
