What seems to motivate the author of ‘The Way We Were, The Way We Are is his realization that time, sickness and death erase all memory! His family’s history is fading with each passing day. Trying to capture some of it is his purpose before it’s too late. “Gee, I wish I had asked Mom abou that, or why can’t I remember 8th grade” is something we all experience. There are a lot of holes in this story that perhaps someone else will be able to fill. If not, “something is better than nothing”, and the author can find peace in knowing he tried here and in his other books. “E for effort” as they say. E for effort indeed!
