"In this book, I have selected some of those essays, which I wrote over the last 20 years. Some of them, particularly those dealing with some aspects of mythic consciousness, were written during my stay in Simla Institute of advanced study, 1972-1974. Several of these essays, as perhaps may be evident from their tone and structure, were originally written as papers to be read in seminars, which I have slightly revised to the present selection.
