The letter states,"I am so glad you liked the introduction and I heartily agree with you as to the suggested inclusion and it goes in." Original printed stiff paper wraps. 40 tipped-in color plates following a 2-page Preface and a 2-page Introduction (these p[atges still uncut) Each color plate has an accompanying page of written annotation and most also have a vignette after the annotation. A great reading copy that shows signs of use. Some pages show light staining from long ago, all color plates are VG. Book Description LeRoy Phillips, Boston, 1920. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Illustrated by Bouchor, J. F. (illustrator). Large format book with French flaps and dust jacket (card-stock weight covers), not paginated, 40 color pictures of France and vicinity during WW1, including Red Cross volunteers, the American Field Service members, famous aviators, various military leaders, French landmarks during the War, members of the Negro Regiment, all painted by Bouchor, who was the official painter to the French Armies; these pictures are tipped in throughout (from preface: "This is a picture book."). Interior is very clean, light tanning to edges of many pages. The color pictures are all bright and clean, appx 8-10 have a small (1/8") crease or fold at bottom left tip from being folded back into book. Pages are untrimmed and the front pages are uncut. The dust jacket has chipped top corner and light tears along top edge and spine ends, else is clean with no notable marking except from general aging and light rubbing, etc. Some of the untrimmed pages jut out from the fore edge and are a bit bumped/folded. This book has been carefully cared for and would be a wonderful addition to any colletion focusing on either the artist's works or on WW1. Overall VG to VG+ condition. Seller Inventory # 25893
