Side folding tabloid format. 32, 16 pp. A later issue of this pioneering underground newspaper, known as the Freep. Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. This issue with articles on Easter in the Ghetto, including chronicling floats in a parade; several articles on drugs and drug use, including speed and marijuana; a very lengthy interview with two members of the Hopi Native American tribe, discussing their efforts to stop coal mining on their reservation, as well as their traditions, past and experiences with the US government; an interview with Ravi Shankar; "Notes of a Dirty Old Man" by Charles Bukowski, etc. GOOD condition. Minor general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Wrinkling and creasing along the extremities, with minor tearing. Faint horizontal fold crease present. Minor soiling.
