A turbulent year in his reign, it also saw the passage of many important acts, including "An Acte Declaryng the Dissolucion of the Kynges Pretended Maryage With the Lady Anne of Cleves," which validated the king's divorce from Anne of Cleves, the fourth of his six wives, and the Statute of Wills. The latter act permitted devise by will, superceding primogeniture and allowing landowners to independently decide who would inherit their land upon their death for the first time. The statute required that valid wills be in writing, signed by the testator and witnessed by at least two other persons, requirements still in place in many jurisdictions today. The ESTC records five variant printings of this title. All are scarce. Taken as a group, OCLC locates 21 copies worldwide. English Short-Title Catalogue S110296.
