Fascinating annual report of the Commissioner of Patents regarding the operation of the Patent Office and the patents granted in fields such as agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, weaponry, etc., with heavy emphasis on the first. Illustrated with text engravings of some tools and machinery and lithographed plates at the end showing two breeds of sheep (Electoral Escurial buck and ewe, and Infantada Negrette buck) and two species of introduced plants (sainfoin and pimpinell). Government document: 30th Congress, first session. Ex. Doc. No. 54. 8vo. 661 pp., 8 plates; illus. Disbound, lacking covers. Title-page a little soiled and with remnants of paper label affixed at inner margin. Title written in ink on one of the front blank leaves by an early owner. Very good. Bookseller Inventory # 18773
