An archive of Typed and Autograph Letters and Postcards Signed by noted author Peter Straub to publisher Herb Yellin dating between 1980 and 1993. All of the correspondence is professionally oriented and very cordial in nature. With a canceled check dated March 21, 1991, payable to Peter Straub in the amount of $750.00 from the Lord John Press - Herb Yellin Books, signed by Herb Yellin and endorsed by Peter Straub on the verso. Included are three black & white promotional photographs of Peter Straub, two from his younger days taken on the same occasion while he is standing in front of a bookcase with an open book in his hands, both simply inscribed and signed by him to Herb Yellin. The third photo is more recent and shows Peter Straub in a happy mood, smiling at the camera with a cityscape visible through the window behind him, signed by him ÒPeter StraubÓ in the white margin at the bottom edge and with a ÔBeth Gwinn, PhotographerÕ label affixed to the verso. All material is in uniform fine condition. Peter Straub is best known for his horror fiction, including Ghost Story (1979), Shadowland (1980), Mystery (1990), Lost Boy Lost Girl (2003), In the Night Room (2004), and A Dark Matter (2010). He has received numerous literary honors, including The Bram Stoker Award, World Fantasy Award, and International Horror Guild Award. Herb Yellin was the founder of The Lord John Press, established in 1976, whose list of authors, in addition to Peter Straub, includes such literary nobility as John Updike, Samuel Beckett, Ray Bradbury, Donald Barthelme, Thomas Berger, Stephen King, Raymond Carver, Joyce Carol Oates, Eudora Welty, Laura Ridiing, William Everson, Norman Mailer, and Walker Percy.
