Four letters from Staff Sergeant Marion Coffren to her in-laws while serving with the WACs during World War II. All items are very good or better with some tears from opening. Marion was stationed with the Air Corps at Moore Field in Texas. In her letters she writes her fiancé, and eventual husband, Richard's parents discussing war rumors and Richard's whereabouts. In April of 1945 she writes, "We have been sitting practically on top of the radio ever since that rumor came Saturday. I'm including to believe that it will be true maybe before you receive this letter. Get your white tie and tails ready 'cause we're sure going to make it a great day." Marion also discusses close families' wartime efforts including her brother in the Navy. "He is so young to see and experience the horrible things he has in the past two years. I'm hoping that it won't take long to erase those memories that a lad so young shouldn't even know about. War is so very inhuman and barbaric that I sometimes wonder if civilization is going forward or backward." By October 1945 she is reunited with Richard and they married in Texas. "Everything has happened so fast I'm just beginning to realize I'm really married." A modest yet interesting collection of a young woman's World War II experience. Seller Inventory # 445147
