This format #2 (as per Mattson & Davis: gray cloth, red lettering, frontis +3, plain eps) is in VG-condition. It is square, very clean, with no corner bumps or edge dings; heel of the spine is lightly bumped without fabric damage, but the head of spine is worn (or possibly nibbled) away; top edge of both boards have a little bit of wear. There are rather small areas of discoloration on both boards and the spine (see photos). The fore edge has several brown spots--it looks almost like hot chocolate --that do not penetrate the pages, but there are similar stains on pages 203-220. Other than those stains and a 1926 inked inscription on the FFEP, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains and page damage; hinges are quite strong and undamaged and the lightly toned paper is quite flexible. The VG- jacket has serious wear along the top of the front fold, a small tear at the bottom of the front fold, a 1" tear along the top of the rear gutter, tiny chips at the head and heel of the spine, and more of those brown stains on the rear panel.
