About this Item
By the author of the "Boy Ranchers" series, this is book #6 in the short-lived, 7- book YA detective series published 1925-1933. Touted as being "clean, interesting, inspiring, & educational,'' this series depicted the "up-to-date adventures of a normal, healthy lad who has a great desire to solve mysteries.[showing] in an entertaining way how he does it." A FIRST EDITION, First Printing, from 1932 (listing to Self in front matter & on front DJ flap, to only previous book in rear), but in the second-format, blue DJ, in 206 pages with glossy frontispiece, decorative endpapers, 6 pages listing other children's series in rear. With tan cloth-covered boards stamped with a blue image of Bob peering into a window to front & that same blue lettering the front & spine, this hardcover 12mo (5.25" x 7.5") is in VG- (minus) condition: generally quite clean, with some light soil to exterior. Binding strong & straight, hinges secure. Pages moderately tanned, a bit heavier to all edges, but unmarked. Modest rubbing to extremities, slight corner bumping, dust dulling & light soil to external page edges. The clipped blue DJ is Poor: colorful & bright, but missing a large portion of lower spine: soil & chipping all around; nicely protected in nonreflective mylar cover by former owner.
