The Brush and the Compass: Interface Dynamics of Art and Science. Bookseller Inventory #
Synopsis: Excerpt from the Preface: The purpose of this interdisciplinary study is to show through selected case histories that art and science interact in the conscious and extraconscious levels, and that they can be integrated into a synergistic whole. In my opinion the rise of a comprehensive culture is not only possible but necessary for the sake of human survival. In terms of methodology this study primarily can be characterized as analytical and synthetic. It is also comparative as well as descriptive. Empirical evidence to be found in the history of art and science supports its edifice. Retrodictory inferences played a central role in its development. On the other hand, the conjecture concerning the growing interaction, and possible convergence, of art and science is predictor.
