Pp. 533-568; 1 fine chromolithographic plate, finished by hand-coloring, 1 halftone plate. One-quarter black cloth, spine with red morocco author/title label lettered in gilt, over marbled boards, tan endpapers, lg 4to (12 x 9 1/8 inches). Malacca is a state in Malaysia located in the southern region of the Malay Peninsula, next to the Straits of Malacca in Southeast Asia. This monograph presents a new collection of butterflies from Malacca collected by Captain Pinwill. The new collection is described and compared with other species found in Malacca. Some new species are described which are figured in the plates. Butler notes that of the 258 species registered for Malacca, 36 species appear to be endemic. No ownership marks and no signs of use.
