It also has an engraved frontipiece and engravings at the top of the preface and on the title page for this volume (there is also a title page for the set). Volume 2 has 364 pages and an engraving on the title page. Volume 3 has 410 pages + long index, and an engraving on the title page. ALl three volumes have bookplates on the inside front covers. The older has a coat of arms with the motto Repentens Exempla Suorum. The smaller bookplate has the name "Benjamin T. Pierce." Marbled endpapers. Bindings are very attractive early-mid nineteenth century full leather bindings. Gold decorations on the spines and maroon labels with gold titles. Books measure 6 x 9.5 inches.
